Finding Your Own Path
I believe good mentoring is about helping people discover their strengths, build confidence, ask better questions, and find their own path. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring people at many stages of their academic and professional journeys, and I’m proud to see where those paths have taken them.

Dr. Youngjae "Jay" Kim
Jay recently completed his Ph.D., exploring how beach nourishment and high-tide flooding shape beaches across different spatial and temporal scales. He is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, studying barrier island and delta dynamics. Outside of research, Jay enjoys beach walks and dogs—including mine, who kept him company during his Ph.D. He’s now happily reunited with his own dog in Korea.
