Response and Recovery to Storms and King Tides
Beach and dunes are impacted at multiple spatial and temporal scales by storms and king tides, which affect coastal residents and tourism. We investigate these impacts using diverse scientific methods and by working with community members.
Human Impacts to the Beach-Dune System
We conduct research to assess the impact of human's activity on the beach-dune systems, for example, beach nourishment, scraping, planted vegetation, and sand fences.
Wind-Blown Sand Processes
An overarching lab goal is to reduce the error between wind-down sand transport predictive models and field-based measurements. These discrepancies hinder the decision-making capabilities of coastal managers. We also have a passion for methodical innovation that includes establishing standard research protocols.
